Sometimes when buying property, you will find that you are buying a leasehold interest. Generally this is the case when you buy a new apartment. This basically means that you are buying an interest in the apartment that will last for a certain amount of time eg 9 years, 99 years, 500 years or 999years. There can be certain conditions in buying a leasehold interest that you will have to abide by (these are called covenants and conditions), e.g. you may not be able to put satellite dishes, or hand dry your clothes on your balcony. We also can act for you regarding commercial leases, i.e. if you are leasing an office space or a shop space. These leases are similar to residential leases, but they last for a shorter period and they generally have an annual rent that has to be paid.
